ABOUT US

ETO: literally meaning «Earth To Orbit,» this acronym suggests the idea that each moment spent seems outside of time. Days are marked by various discoveries and unfold in alignment with the cycles of nature. Disconnection occurs through the elements around us, following the model of a virtuous circle.

SOTO: this refers to a current represented by a Japanese school of thought, where the notions of «practice» and «awakening» are one and the same. SOTO also corresponds to a Japanese term meaning «outside.» The traveler leaves their familiar land to open up to new people, cultures, experiences, and habits.
«We cannot understand man apart from nature, and nature is incomprehensible without man» – Hamilton Wright Mabie.

Etosoto is a project for an eco-hotel developed by a multidisciplinary team motivated by the desire to create a place that enhances our connection to nature, with a poetic and understated perspective. It is an exploratory approach, aligned with contemporary social issues, addressing the challenge of building and inhabiting preserved natural spaces without causing harm, blending in, and integrating, while actively participating in the support of the ecosystem. This project proposes a gentle approach, where humans do not impose themselves as colonizers of nature, but rather integrate into a stable and resilient trophic network.
In a desire for uniqueness and freedom of innovation, we carry out the entire process of research, creation, and manufacturing ourselves: architecture, construction techniques, means of self-sufficiency and recycling, transformation of raw materials (wood), construction, agroforestry, and active management of flora. This full freedom allows us greater flexibility for innovation. This project is carried out in association with Policronica, a design and architecture studio, and we have converted an abandoned factory to establish our production center.
